elf on the shelf

tonight after dinner, we came home and i read the book "Elf on the Shelf - A Christmas Tradition" for the first time to the mabster. i think that this year, she may actually "get" santa and the whole being a good girl thing. this book is such a super cute idea. if you haven't heard of it before, it is a book that comes with a little toy elf. the gist of it is that the elf is santa's little helper who comes to visit before christmas time to watch over you every day. then at night once the mabster goes to bed, the elf leaves to report back to santa to let him know if she was a good or a bad girl that day. you even get to name your elf, and the mabster has chosen the name "elvis." so elvis the elf it is.well once the mabster wakes up in the morning, elvis the elf is back but sitting in a different location that he was before. he sits there all day just watching, reminding the mabster to be a good girl so that santa will put her on the "good" list so that she will get lots of presents for christmas. this is were i put elvis so that the mabster will see him in the morning...think she will find him? instead of "where's waldo?," we get to play "where's elvis?" i love it already. what a great christmas tradition to start. i don't know who's more excited, me or the mabster?

we have an elf too! once she gets older you need to do the other elf....he/she comes after thanksgiving and gets into stuff at night while she is sleeping and then goes back on christmas eve to report to santa but this elf she plays with and dresses in different clothes. i'll send you the link so you can learn about it.

this elf she will enjoy in a few years though...ericka's toilet papered her room one night and another night had a movie party and had popcorn all over the living room....these are just some of the things she has done in the past but now ericka has outgrown it and is a non-believer!!! UGH!

i would love to see the facial expression on the mabster when she woke up to see her room tp'ed!! i think her elf would do an awesome job especially if i helped because they didn't call us the "TP Queens" in high school for nothing! we'd gang up with the soccer boys "the roll patrol" and do some serious damage...only to our friends that we loved the most though. HA!

that sounds like an awesome idea. email me that link if you can find it, k? thanks!

Hey, we got her tree at Wal-Mart for $20.00. (They had purple, pink, blue, white, white with colored lights, red, etc.) It is just the right height for her to decorate herself. They have tons of little ornaments too. I got the treeskirt at Target for $10.00. It has lots of sparkley snowflakes....perfect for our little Belles. She absolutely LOVES it and every night has to tell the pretty tree "night night". You have to post pics when you get one.

Ours is named Ernie.... I think this will be our 3rd year. I can't wait to get him out and see if she remembers him.
