lake with cousins

friday jay took off work and we headed up to the lakehouse since our cousins from atl and cali were coming over for another quick visit, but this time tito toto came too. we haven't seen him in years so it was fun to catch up and re-unite. all the girls piled on and beside him for a picture thanks to maress. later, pawpaw showed tito toto the map of smith lake and where we were located as well as other ins and outs. mamaw came over too, and the day was just starting...so our cousins (hannah and elise) are always so sweet and thoughtful when they arrive because they always come bearing sweet surprises. this time we wanted to do the same so daddy and the mabster went to the store and picked them out matching disney princess fishing poles and a wand o' bubbles. just to add on to this: whoever has the attitude that girls can't do what boys do is sadly mistaken. they absolutely LOVED them and really got the hang of how to operate them. daddy was proud. plus, what better gift to give to your cousins than something that will remind them of the lake while wanting to say, "hey ya'll, i gots these here fishin' poles from my fam in ala-fakkin-bama." yeah, because that's how we do it over here. teachin'em young...we start swimming, floating, shooting the breeze, etc. the mabster and hannah are like peas and carrots. they adore playing with each other. it's really sweet. so for years, we've always tried to encourage the mabster to jump off the dock and into the water. never ever would she want to. matter of fact as of this summer, she just became accustomed to doing so in the pool, nonstop. however, when it comes to lake, she was still a bit fearful. it wasn't until hannah held her hand and they both jumped in together that she realized how much fun it was. it was a weekend for a first. she jumped in repeatedly and then next thing you know, lyla is too. a first for BOTH. i was so.utterly.proud. furthermore, lola and tita flor dipped their feet in the water while lyla fed chips to tito toto the whole time. she just loved that man for some reason. it was cracking us up...like he had "lyla nip" in his pockets are something. here are some pics... and let's take a brief pause for a moment to enjoy jay's better half...okay so where was i? after swimming, we all boarded the boat and went cruising around for awhile since maress really wanted tito toto to see the atmosphere of the lake and it's surroundings. so we do just that and then stop at rock creek marina to fill up on gas and let the munchkins feed the fishies. it's tradition to purchase a bag of crackers and a ring pop for each kid. they even brought along their fishing poles for a faux fishing attempt and were amazed at how big the carp were. after squeals of delight and pointing at all the fish, we jumped back on the boat and headed back home. it was a great little outing, especially for those who have never been before. here are some pics...once we arrived back at the lakehouse, karla, tre, and cousin carson had arrived too. we all sit down and eat. pawpaw grilled out some pork while lola made some yummy poncit, fried rice, squash casserole, and fried catfish. after eating, everyone just hung out. i took this time to change the girls into their BIG SURPRISE shirts (BIG SISTER!!!) and see how long anybody caught on.

also, the mabster colored an auburn picture for lola and pawpaw in which they loved. okay so rewind, 10 minutes in (after putting the shirts on the girls), maress notices lyla's. she says out loud, "oh, i love lyla's big sister shirt...did your friend make those for you too?" we smile and say yes. we thought the secret was out...nope. it didn't quite register. i think she thought it was some sort of a brand name or at best, a hand-me-down of abby's. so karla maria and i are dying laughing at each other. it took awhile to catch on till someone else said, "OH, lyla's going to be a big sister!!" and then the room filled with squeals. the funniest damn thing ever though was when tito toto high-fived me repeatedly and gave me the title of "best f#cker ever." i couldn't understand half of what he was saying, but it was so funny and in the moment that i just kept laughing and high-fiving. oh well. this is evidence that i should really probably learn some tagalog by now. overall, it was a great day. words cannot describe how good it felt to finally tell someone that we are expecting baby #3. next was telling jay's side of the family. let the good times roll...
