a day with tita karmie...

monday morning, tita karmie came over for a surprise visit while the girls were both in school. we ate lunch together and then ran some errands before picking up the girls around 1:00pm. after dropping big B off at her house, we headed back home where tita karmie played with the girls all day till daddy got home. during the afternoon hours, the mabster and tita karmie laid down in our bedroom and proceeded to watch a movie. ends up tita karmie fell asleep. when the opportunity presented itself, i seized it and took a picture. of course, abby's rocking some super light pink lip gloss and hamming it up for the picture. later she stole tita karmie's glasses and ran around the house wearing them, saying things like, "it looks like i have 5 mommies!" god love it. thanks for spending the day with us, tita karmie. we love you!

circus 2011

as tradition stands, we continued to celebrate jay's birthday (actual date was today) by enjoying a family day at the circus. we haven't missed a ringling brothers event in over 11 years. the girls love it and of course if cotton candy or funnel cake is involved we're sold too. the greatest show on earth started at 5:00pm, but we arrived a little early so that we could take the girls down to the floor where they got to get up close and personal with some of the clowns, acrobats, and watch the elephants.

later, we grabbed our seats and enjoyed the show. both girls really seemed to enjoy it as it had their attention the whole time. during intermission, tita karla and carson stopped by to say hi and cousin carson shared his light toy with the girls. everyone had a great time, but by the end of the night we were all hungry and exhausted. after the show, we ended up at cracker barrell and soon in our warm beds. it was a great ending to a wonderful weekend. here are some pics...

happy 30th, jaydoug!!

saturday night, we celebrated jay's 30th birthday with close friends at home field. it's been awhile since everyone has thrown drinks back and cut a rug at our favorite little honky tonk so we were all pretty excited. also, it was our first time to get together and listen to one of the live bands that were playing that night, erica and the soulshine band. they were awesome. the lead singer was a tiny little lady with a huge voice and she sang songs that made this preggo lady run front and center along with friends, and shake what my momma gave me.

we arrived early at 7:00pm to chow down on some yummy dinner and chat it up. the band started playing at 9:30pm and at this point, the drinks were continuing to flow. all in all, we all had a blast especially the birthday boy. i have to admit, you know you're officially old when you can barely make it past midnight...definitely can't hang like we use to and for some reason, i find extreme comfort in that. i have accepted my old card proudly. thank god birthdays come once a year! LOL. thank you to all who came to help celebrate. your reciprocity of a good friendship means the world to us and we love you bitches! happy "dirty 30" jay!! XOXO

thursday's thoughts

1.) Almost forgot to thaw out the meat for dinner tonight. Some may think you can't eat chicken-n-dumplins without the chicken... #Oops

2.) The Pregger Piss: Where it feels like you're about to piss buckets, but it's just a drizzle. #CmonNow

3.) 2010 Taxes filed and done. Now can someone rush order me that check!? #MommyNeedsANewPairOfShoes

4.) Loves being a "cradle Catholic."

5.) Tomorrow's chaotic schedule already stresses me out. #NecesitoVino

6.) RT @DalaiLama: We need a genuine sense of responsibility and a sincere concern for the welfare of others.

7.) I don't do it as often as I should, but there's nothing more satisfying than hanging up hot laundry as it's freshly out of the dryer before 8am.

8.) After catching up on last week's dvr recordings, I must admit that #ModernFamily will always be one of my favorite tv gems.

9.) Wonders when the saggy braless tits look will come into style because I could really pull that look off today... #WhereAreYouChina?

10.) Lady in bathroom stall #3, I have declared you the winner for longest piss in history. For a full 3 minutes there, I thought you were a man.

11.) Umm, why is there a butter knife in my laundry room? #ThingsThatMakeYouGoHmmm

12.) abby loves to tell me something and then say, "no, really...i'm not kidding...i'm not lying." she's so defensive it makes me snicker.

13.) our movie marathon has continued well underway this week. actually though, instead of watching movies, we are on season 4 of WEEDS. there are 7 seasons total. i don't know what we're gonna watch once we're done...suggestions?

14.) When I have 3 kids, I shall turn into a homebody. Because quite honestly, running around w/ 2 kiddos in tow in the freezing rain is torture.

15.) Watching the gals of RHOC play blackjack in Vegas, and I hope to God I never come off as that stupid. #Wowzas

16.) The eldest daughter can navigate like a well-oiled machine through #Netflix to find her favorite cartoons. It's scary. #DaddyTaughtHerWell

17.) Hubs just stuck his finger in his belly button and then immediately in my face. I will kill him now. After I vomit...

18.) Fact: I just used the word "twat" in a game of #WordsWithFriends. No really. Seriously.

19.) Had slight panic attack minutes before meeting A's teacher for mid-year conference. Reason being: I thought I put my pants on inside out. Luckily, crisis was averted.

20.) just watched as abby gave lyla a big ole bear hug and said to her, "i love you even when i'm mad at you." BE.STILL.MY.BEATING.HEART.

21.) After a nonstop week of go, go, go, I am SO looking forward to a quiet hot date night with the hubster. The best thing yet though is knowing that the only payment required from our babysitter is a heavenly slice of Godiva chocolate cheesecake...it's a win-win for all!

22.) today jay and i met with abby's teacher for their mid-year conference. i sat beside jay quietly as i smiled with extreme nervousness...i don't know what it is about teachers/authority that has always made me so antsy. i even told jay that i felt like a student and were we about to get in trouble?? it was pretty comical. it ran smoothly. abby's doing great. we laughed and chatted with mrs. noblitt and i saw a side of jay i've never seen before. he clearly took the reigns of the meeting, asked questions, and gave positive feedback of what abby does around the house that includes what she loves the most about school. i was impressed and pleased with everything that was said. and then we got sent home with a journal of pictures that abby has made. my heart melted as we scanned through those pages...

23.) "I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out." -Elizabeth Barrett Browning

happy birthday, lola and jay!!

tuesday night, we celebrated both lola and jay's birthday since they are only days apart from each other. dinner at o'charley's at 6:00pm was decided and everyone was there except for karla maria since she has strep throat (we missed you, but are glad that you are feeling better). when we arrived, gifts were exchanged and tita karmie came with a huge bag filled with super cute dresses from old navy for the girls. she told jay that was his present which in turn was PER-FECT because the man never knows what he wants and at least the girls will definitely be wearing these clothes, day in and day out, plus saving him money on new clothes for them. totally a win-win.

throughout dinner, lola talked about auburn football and cam newton...and karmie made fun of lola for talking about nothing but auburn football and cam newton. it was hilarious. seriously. the food was great and the company was even better. happy birthday, lola and jay, we love you more than anything in the world!! XOXOlastly as we were walking out, the mabster was giving kisses to her tita karmie and lola. in all honesty, this is a rarity because the little lady has to be in a good mood to give out her sugar freely...seems like tonight was a good time because at one point she squeezed tita karmie's face so hard that i think we were all in shock. don't believe me? here's proof...

in remembrance of shannon...

a year ago today, we were all stunned to discover the tragic passing of one of our college friends, shannon. it all still feels a bit surreal so being the thoughtful person maloney is, she decided to get the gang together for a dinner out at superior grill in remembrance of shannon and a new year with friends. we arrived at 6:30pm and headed to the back patio. the weather was perfect for it considering it wasn't half as cold as what it usually is. the girls got to play with claire bear and joseph, not to mention that the mabster gave baby greer some love too while bate's mom and dad held him. it was so sweet.lastly, i'll leave you with this comment from maloney. it really sums it up nicely...

"What a bittersweet night...so much love in one room but lots of unspoken words about such a great person. We all miss you Shannon and will count on you bringing us all together year after year on January 24th."

uab vs. memphis

after our last birthday party, we headed straight over to bartow arena to watch the blazers take on the memphis tigers in a game of basketball. tip off was at 6:00pm. we arrived early and snagged our seats and some popcorn. our seats were with tita karla, uncle tre, carson, gina, and rocco. tita karmie, karen, and lisa were only a few rows back from us. the game was a close one especially towards the end. to no surprise, we ended up in overtime and lost the game which only confirms how much uab fans are sick of the coaching from mike davis...we made 2 out of 23 three-pointers and he keeps wanting to play the same play!? augh. i digress. all in all, we should have brought home the "W" and not the heartache. oh well. at least the girls were having a blast dancing around and being silly with the music that the band kept playing so not all was lost. GOO BLAZERS!!

happy birthday, anna kate!!

after birthday party #1, we hopped, skipped, and jumped over to homewood for one of abby's classmate's birthday party. anna kate was turning 5 and it was a princess and pirate themed festivity. of course, abby wanted to dress up as snow white (i swear to you that costume is hanging on it's last thread). again the whole family got to come and looking back, i was really grateful considering a lot of the other dads were there too so jay got to meet them and talk about video games with their kids. nice, right?

so once we arrive, the girls all sat down at the craft table where they got to decorate their own princess tiara. next they moved to a table where their nails were painted and lip gloss was applied...it was a girly girl's dream come true. after wards, some of them moved upstairs to play with barbies and the such. being the mamarazzi that i am, of course i snagged some pics. here they are...towards the end, we all sang happy birthday to anna kate and ate the best cake EVER!! it was from dreamcakes and was as yummy as it was beautiful. i'm already craving more. overall, the girls had a blast and we really enjoyed getting to know the parents better as well. happy 5th birthday, anna kate!

happy birthday, mykell!!

saturday morning, we loaded up the car and got ready for a fun-filled day of birthday party hopping and basketball watching. our first adventure out was to I-Jump off of 280 for cousin mykell's 6th birthday party. the girls were really excited since they freakin love pump it up and this place is very similar...just a bunch of huge inflatables and a good time. i have to admit though, that this place was packed and much more chaotic that what i'm use to. for example, in one of the inflatable mazes, both abby and lyla didn't know how to get out. so picture if you will...jay and i are yelling at them trying to direct them out. abby gets frustrated and scared and starts crying. we tell her to follow the footsteps and she's good to go...but then lyla stops following her, gives up, and just lays down inside the float. it was hysterical. we laughed so hard because we knew how annoyed all of us were starting to get. soon one of the staff members climbs inside the tight maze and rescues little lyla out. needless to say, our white baby never re-entered that maze. here are some pics...after playing and going down the huge slides only a couple of hundred times, it was time to move into the party room where we all ate pizza, cake, and sang happy birthday to mykell. we chatted with family and later, nan came in for a sneak attack of tickles to lyla bug. all in all, it was a crazy fun time with lots of giggles and shot nerves. thank you for having us, and happy birthday, mykell!!
