NICU: day 11

today daddy came to visit you sweet baby jemma while mommy went to the doctor. after waking up this morning with horrible sinus pressure, i decided i needed some relief so the doc prescribed me some meds that will hopefully knock it right out. (note: sinus infections are not contagious, but the common cold that may have led to the sinus infection is). that said, after day 2 of antibiotics i shouldn't be contagious any longer if a cold is what i had that led to my sinus infection. so sweet baby jemma that is why mommy didn't visit today. i'm going to wait till this resolves and i'll be back up there in no time. gotta love spring when my immune defenses are down and added stress (insert sarcasm here).

during daddy's visit with you, he sent me this picture while he was holding you. he said you smiled for the first time for him. you looked soooo stinking sweet. i can't wait for another week or two when i can smother those sweet cheeks in kisses. also, the nurse reported that they have again increased your feedings to 25cc from 20cc. they removed one of your arterial belly lines today and plan to start trying to bottle feed tomorrow since your breathing is much more relaxed. yay, we're excited about that although the haswells have informed us that trying to teach a baby how to suck, swallow, and breath all at the same time can be a little frustrating. baby steps, can do it!after daddy left the hospital, he came back home where he played with the girls outside for hours. the weather was beautiful today so we spent most of our time enjoying it. the girls played in the sand and water, broke in their new trampoline, and played with the kiddos in the our neighborhood. as the day winded down, it was time for a bath and then cory and stace dropped off some yummy chicken and dumplings for dinner. thank you guys so much, it was delicious. before bedtime, we all said another prayer for you like we do every night. we're so proud of how far you've come and thank God daily. goodnight, sweet baby jemma. see you soon.
