abby's thanksgiving feast

today, jay and i headed over to abby's school in honor of her class's thanksgiving feast which took place an hour before dismissal. both of the kindergarten classes dressed up as native americans with a headdress full of different colored feathers and their indian name. abby's was "water lily." she looked adorable and was so excited to see us once she entered into the family life center. upon their arrival, each classmate had the opportunity to have their picture taken in front of the super cute thanksgiving set up of bails of hay, pumpkins, scarecrows, and fall leaves. here is after having their picture made, each child found a seat at the long row of tables. baby pumpkins were used as centerpieces along with a trail of their snacks that real indians love to eat (popcorn, apples, oranges, raisins, cranberries, and water). lyla was currently in her own class, but baby sister was there in which abby was excited to see her. thankfully, aunt stacy held her for awhile while i took a few pictures. here they are...everyone said the blessing before eating and then later, each child told the audience what they were thankful for. abby's response, "my friends." it was sweet, but one of my favorite responses was from lila who said, "mrs. westbrooke's treasure chest"...that's where you get to pick out a surprise for being good. such truth in sweet small children. abby and lila also shared the same indian name although they are in different classes. all in all, it was a cute little celebration in honor of the upcoming holiday. hope everyone has a happy thanksgiving!
