let lake season commence...

since the weather has been warm for some time now and spring has definitely sprung early despite what the groundhog predicted, jay decided to go ahead and get his boat summarized at ryan creek marina so that we would be able to go out on the water for a bit on sunday. karmie, karla, tre, and kids all came up too to enjoy soaking up some vitamin d and a nice relaxing cruise around while mamaw stayed at the lakehouse and watched the babies for us.

while transporting the boat over to the lakehouse to pick up the rest of the gang, jemma got to enjoy her first ride out on the open water with the wind in her hair. she absolutely loved it and bobbed up and down in her seat the whole time. it was the sweetest thing to watch. about ten minutes in, the hum of the engine and the smooth glide over the water put her to sleep as i wrapped her up in a towel and held her in my lap. oh, how i love moments like that. reminds me so much of when i use to do that with both abby and lyla at that age. here are some pics...rewind if you will: so jay told the guys who summarized his boat to top it off with some gas since his fuel gauge isn't working, thus he wasn't sure how much was in there. luckily, he decided to head in the direction of rock creek marina to buy a drink and some popsicles for the kids. well about 300 yards away, the boat runs out of gas. yeah. no kidding. guess they never topped him off like he asked. so what do we do besides laugh at the situation since the marina is in sight, but far away? the guys jump in the cold lake while we throw them a rope that karmie is holding as they swim us in to get more gas. we joked about how karmie was the queen of the sea and all she needed was a viking helmet with horns as she laughed and said, "hey, get a picture of this." yeah. it was hysterical. here are those pics...we finally make our way to the marina where sammy is there to greet us as we told him what happened. thankfully, he was open or else we would have been S.O.L. the munchkins picked out an ice cream or popsicle, they fed the big fish some crackers, and then we were on our way to continue cruising around the lake...with a full tank of gas. ahhh, that's one way to start off the 2012 lake season, right!? good times. good times. here are some pics...
