memorial day weekend: day 2

as tradition stands, every year we like to go to the alabama hot air balloon jubilee classic in decatur since it's only a few exits past ours and the kids absolutely love it. we arrived and sat in the grass as all the hot air balloons were being inflated around us. it was beautiful. here are some pics...

after watching all the hot air balloons fill up the sky, we decided to let the girls blow off some steam and play while enjoying some treats at the nearby carnival tents. you had to buy tickets to purchase food, drinks, or games so we bought $10 worth and let the girls pick what they wanted. they both decided on snow cones, a hair extension (abby got red while lyla chose purple), and rides down the inflatable tiger slide that they played on years ago. we all had a great time, but as the sun was setting we knew it was time to head back to the lakehouse before meltdown' thirty happened. sweet baby jem-jem didn't like this idea and nearly ripped off her daddy's face because she did not want to leave...she loved looking at the bright big balloons in the sky. it was hilarious. here are some pics...
lastly, these are two pics that i took on my phone and then filtered them through instagram. i like them a lot because the first one is full of festive flair and the second one was when some random nice man came up to us to ask if he could take our picture because "we matched the balloon going up behind us." this is why i love good-hearted people. that simple gesture completely made my day. here are the pics...
