rinse and repeat as desired.

My one year old's favorite game while I'm in the shower is "Climb in and out of the bottom drawer while throwing its contents on the floor." It's annoyingly cute.

slumber party!

after abby's birthday party, she had just a few of her closest friends (brooke, isabelle, lexie, and claire bear) come over to spend the night for a fun slumber party. ever since she saw the justin beiber plates at party city, she has told me that she wanted to have a beiber birthday party. i told her that i would meet her halfway and let her eat off beib plates while at her sleepover. she smiled and agreed. here's a picture of the girls while bouncing on the trampoline with the water hose earlier in the night...
so the girls took over jay's man cave with all things sweet and estrogen-y. auntie maloney put together the best bucket filled with things like hair curlers, barrettes, nail polish, make-up, popcorn, and candy to name a few. it was so sweet and fun to watch them enjoy these things because it definitely reminded me of slumber parties when i was a young girl. innocent things like playing with each other's hair was my favorite. here are some pics...
furthermore, they had the best time playing with all of it and even made mr. jay be a victim to their practice in cosmetology. yup. they painted his toes with purple nail polish, put blue eyeshadow on him, and barrettes in his hair. i was so glad to catch a quick picture of this since i was upstairs unpacking gifts while it was going on. after wards, they all settled into their sleeping bags and watched movies. everyone was very well behaved and slept great. i'd definitely have to say that it was a success and will be done again...just not any time too soon. lol. happy happy 6th birthday, abby! we love you! xoxo

abby's 6th birthday party

saturday we celebrated abby's 6th birthday party at premier gymnastics from 3:30 to 5:00pm. she had the best time playing with her friends and classmates doing flips, somersaults, swinging on the bars, walking the balance beam, and jumping on the trampoline. towards the end of playtime, the parachute and balls were brought out where the kids played for a few minutes and then cocooned themselves inside while singing "happy birthday" to our special girl. here are some pics...
if you couldn't tell, i centered her theme around gymnastics meets chevron. i'm currently slightly addicted to the cutesy pattern and color coordinated her cupcakes to match. once we arrived into the party room, everybody sat down for refreshments and again sang happy birthday as abby blew out the candle on her cupcake. later, she opened up her presents and told everyone thank you. we had such a great time watching our newly six year old have so much fun. here are some pics...

birthday surprise

while i was away for the weekend, daddy let abby and lyla pick out their birthday surprises since both of their birthdays are less than a month apart from each other. he took them to toys-r-us and said that they both decided that a new trampoline would make the best gift. i'll be honest, i wasn't surprised that they picked this. they had one for only a short time last year until a big storm came and blew it away, thus mangling it. they were so upset. it's nice to see these sweet smiles jumping around again and having so much fun...

3rd annual moms beach trip: day 3

saturday morning, we all decided to make our way to the beach for our last day. thankfully, the skies were a lot sunnier so we spent the majority of our day out there with our favorite cold beverage and lots of chatter. we spent some time sitting on the cusp of the shore while letting the water hit our feet. again, i was mesmerized by the waves...i have never seen them that big and with so many rolling in at one time. it was seriously therapeutic to watch them. here are some pics...
okay, so do you want to know why i love my friends and why i think they are so awesome and clearly meant for me? because they are willingly excited to purchase matching white shirts from our nearby dollar general because i made a joke that we should take our "family portrait" out on the beach and wear the standard cheesy tradition of white shirts and khackis. they thought it would be awesome...and then the impromptu plan fell together when everyone realized that they had already packed a shade of khacki shorts or capris. score. we got ready, dressed, ran downstairs, and found the most random sweet lady to be our photographer. it was great. we hammed it up. we laughed. we had poses planned down to the tee. we are professionals here. at least we felt like it. it was glorious. it was hysterical. did i mention my friends are beyond awesome? take a gander for yourself...i promise you won't be disappointed...
ahhh...good times, good times. our little escapade was the perfect ending to our wonderful, low key, relaxing, bonding beach trip. after our fun photo shoot, we walked back up to our condo and changed into our normal clothes. from there, we decided to eat at late dinner at live bait, ran a few "errands" (wink, wink), and then watched a movie before letting our heads hit our pillows. overall, it was a great weekend getaway with some great great friends. i absolutely love how "go with the flow" these ladies are. you guys are the best and i can't wait till next time! xoxo

3rd annual moms beach trip: day 2

friday morning everyone woke up really really late. we got in late from a fun night before, but i never expected it to be 11:00am by the time everyone started moving around inside the condo. it was oh so very nice. we rehashed and laughed at the night's funny moments and discussed what we should do for our upcoming day. you can tell you're a mom on vacation when it's nearly 2:00pm before anyone heads out to the beach. the sunshine was hiding a bit as there was an overcast, but we were just thankful it wasn't raining and at best, that we only had to worry about applying sunblock to ourselves since the kids were all safe at home with their daddies. here are some pics...
after staying out on the beach for hours shooting the breeze and watching the waves roll upon the shore, we all went inside and proceeded with the shower rotations as we all got ready for a nice dinner out at cobalt. mag is good friends with the restaurant manager there so he hooked us with a nice big round table with a beautiful view along with some amazing appetizers. the food and atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. here are some pics while at dinner...

3rd annual moms beach trip: day 1

thursday morning, i picked up becca at her house as we made our way over to selena's where we met up with the other girls in order to carpool together and make our way to gulf shores, al. it was time for our annual moms only beach trip and everyone was so excited to get away and relax for the weekend.

once we arrived, we checked in to our condo that laura had booked for all of us and claimed our beds and bedmates. i made heather be mine since i love her white noise machine so much...plus, she doesn't snore...or if she did, i sure couldn't tell! after getting settled and unpacked, we took a walk on the beach and played around till sunset. from there, we decided to visit the flora-bama for some fun and shenanigans. a trip to the beach is not the same without visiting this place. we listened to live music both inside and out as we danced all night and enjoyed the frozen bushwhackers. our first night was so much fun, especially our drive home in the crazy lit up taxi cab. here are some pics...
