family beach trip 2012

friday, we headed back to the beach where the girls dug a gigantic hole in the ground and then made daddy fill it up with water while i played with baby jemma under the umbrella. abby and lyla love to do this and do it often at home, but in the dirt. they like to pretend that they are making soup and add "ingredients" along the way. i taught them this because i remember doing this as a young kid myself with my sisters. we'd add rose petals and baby tomatoes from my mom's garden...some times we'd get in trouble....some times we wouldn't, but that will always be a fond memory of mine. here are some pics...
later, daddy taught his girls how to catch and surf on a wave with their boogie boards. it was hilariously awesome watching this because some times when i expect my kids to cry after face planting into the ocean with a mouthful of sand...instead they jump back up and scream "that was awesome!!" ahhh, we're raisin'em right! love our miniature adventurous sporty little surfer girls...

after another all day of play out on the beach, we walked back to our condo where we took baths, rested, and prepared for a fun night out with dinner at the original oyster house. it was absolutely delicious and the girls cleaned their plates...guess fun in the sun can really work up an appetite.
after dinner, we headed over to the nearby "the track" where we rode go karts together multiple times, each time switching up partners and then towards the end, abby and lyla got to ride and steer their own. this was pretty comical to watch because lyla kept steering straight into the guard rails every time. we had a good laugh watching as she just smiled. also, they rode the miniature airplanes, ferris wheel, choo-choo train, swings, carousel, and played in the arcade. let's just say there was no rockin' these babies to sleep that night...
