since we have been "homeless" and in transition of moving between houses, this halloween was a bit different. we weren't quite sure what neighborhood to let the kids go trick-or-treating in until impromptu plans came together. elise and kelly invited us over to their home where they had fun games planned for the kids like bowling with a pumpkin and colored bottles of water as pins, as well as feeling slimy eye balls and the such behind a black tarp. the kids loved it and we all munched on some food before walking around the block. once we arrived back after trick or treating, trish wanted to show the kids a fiery flaming pumpkin. she is after all a science teacher and it was educational, right? but of course. all in all, it was a great spooky halloween night. thank you for having us, the kiddos had a blast! xoxo

abby's class halloween party

so i helped with abby's school halloween party where her and classmates exchanged goodies, made a pumpkin craft, ate snacks, and later had a "freeze dance" game to michael jackson's "thriller." it was a fun filled day and it was pretty funny watching abby win at freeze dance. she's so talented like that. ha. happy halloween!!

spooky goodies

some times i like to get all "pinterest-y" for the holidays. the things i choose to do can be done by anyone. seriously. that's what makes it so fun. with that being said, i made some scary oreo spiders, spooky seven layer bean dip, and some witches brooms to share at some of the halloween parties. they were a hit, but most of all, super easy to throw together. here are some pics...

lunch bunch

so i love helping out when i can at the girls' school. today called for PERKS where the teachers received their own quiet special lunch while someone else (me and a few other moms) watch each grade during their lunch period. while making sure the kids did not run amuck and were quietly eating, i snagged this pic...

planting pumpkin seeds...

i love my kids. i love them more than anything in the whole wide world. i love their quirks because they each have their own. and i love the excitement on their face when they think something is an excellent idea.

for example, after they carved their pumpkins with pawpaw, they insisted on planting the seeds in the tomato garden in the that's exactly what they did. with their pawpaw. he watered them and everything and said that next year, he's definitely going to have to buy a pumpkin and put it in the same spot just to make sure the girls know that their seeds actually grew a big one...

double date night

saturday we made plans for a double date night with jenn and matt in honor of uncle germy's north tavern hosting their first halloween party. the band "naked eskimos" played live on stage as we dance and sang to many of their cover songs. i have always enjoyed this band and was super pumped when finding out they were playing that night. see the upside of living with your mom and dad is having "built in babysitters." once the sweet munchkins were fast asleep, we snuck out for some nearby adult fun. some people dressed up in costumes and others (like us) did not. one guy we thought was dressed up as a sheriff actually was the sheriff. hehehe. that provided some good laughs, no doubt. overall, we had a blazzzast with jenn and matt and can't wait to do it again! lastly, it was kinda funny in the fact that it made me feel like a teenager again when we came home and the light was still on for us. thank you, lola...we love you!! xoxo

zombie 5k run

i'm the type of gal who is usually up for least once. combine that with the fact that it is extremely hard for me to say no (i'm trying to get better as i age, i swear) and you can count me in for any crazy silly adventure. yep. i'm your go to girl.

that said, one of my awesome friends, stace, asked if anyone would be game for partaking in a 5k zombie chase with her located at the hargis retreat in chelsea. she provided the link and details of the run and i thought, "sure, i can handle that...easy peasy, lemon squeezy since the obstacles looked nothing compared to the ones i watched my hubs endure during his toughmudder stint last year." sign me up!

so stace came up with a team name of "bloody mary sprinters" and made us all matching red t-shirts. we were all nervously excited since we knew zombies would be chasing us while trying to pull off our red flags on our backs. at one point, one zombie chased me down with a lawn mover and i lost a shoe in one of the double mud pits. i wore a go pro video camera on my head and recorded bits and pieces of the run. it's on youtube if you ever want to search for it. the title escapes me at the moment, but i'll have to find it and post again later.

anywho, it was a lot of fun with friends and i'm so glad i did it. my lovingly family came to laugh, errr i mean support me and after the race we all celebrated and toasted each other with halloween cups full of blood orange mimosas. needless to say, i may or may not have signed up for the "dirty girl" mud race that is coming soon too...

abby's class field trip

abby and classmates enjoyed their first field trip of the school year to the great pumpkin patch in hayden. i helped chaperon and was excited to spend quality time with my favorite six year old. once we arrived, they got to enjoy a drink and a snack before riding the ponies, choo-choo train, and jumping around and sliding down the inflatable bounce houses. later, we all sat down under the pavilion for a picnic lunch with friends before making our way to the petting zoo area and then towards the pumpkin patch. abby was so excited to find her perfect pumpkin that she darted up the hill as fast as she could run. towards the very end, abby signed one of her classmates shirts since it was his last day at school due to their family moving back to england. we're gonna miss you, griff! all in all, it was a great day for a field trip!

"wednesday ritual"

reason #762 of why i love the willis family: while our first graders are in choir practice after school, we (mommies and siblings) enjoy sweet treats nearby while letting the kids burn off energy in the playground. it's a win-win for all. here are some pics...
