o christmas tree, o christmas tree

friday night, the girls wanted to start decorating for christmas, both inside and out now that thanksgiving is officially over. they begged their pawpaw to bring out the christmas tree and decorations from the attic. they each had a great time placing their ornaments on the tree. the bottom row was embellished with just a few thanks to jemma. they also helped pawpaw put up the nativity scene in the front yard. it's beginning to look a lot like christmas! here are some pics...

cheer clinic

saturday i helped coach a cheer clinic beside kara and jenn inside the school's gymnasium for the upcoming basketball season. the girls got fitted for uniforms and were taught a lot of cheers. they have all seemed to catch on better than i expected. after the clinic, jenn and i took the girls out for lunch at "little donkey" and then for dessert at "steel city pops." they had a great day and we are looking forward to another fun basketball cheering season. here are some pics...

in the spirit of thanksgiving...

happy thanksgiving!

for thanksgiving, we started off the day like we usually do every year by traveling to mamaw's farmhouse in cullman to celebrate with my side of the family. we arrive before noon and stay till about 4:00pm until it's time to leave and head back to birmingham where we celebrate with jay's side of the family. this has always worked out really well for us. the girls love playing outside with their cousins, and the food is always delicious. another tradition we do every year is take our family pictures for my mom and dad's upcoming christmas card. these are always a lot of fun because everyone gets so silly towards the end. i absolutely adore the outtake pics that mark captured since karmie told him to "just keep snapping." here are some pics...
after a fun filled day at the farmhouse, it was time to head over for our thanksgiving celebration: round 2 at nana lin and papa john's house. we were excited to see some family that we haven't seen in awhile. auntie jess and lyla looked like the "bob"bsey twins as they posed for a pic together. russell brought a hilarious card game that no one had ever played before and it was the perfect entertainment of the evening. the cousins enjoyed playing with each other and i couldn't help but notice that we are the only ones with girls on both sides of our families. clearly, it was meant to be...we had to have three to help balance out all the loud rowdiness and destruction that comes with the said boys. lol. i love it. the food was again delicious and overall, i'd have to say it was one wonderful thanksgiving. hope you and yours enjoyed it as well! xoxo

mcwane family fun day

since jay got off work early around 1:00pm the day before thanksgiving, the girls and i decided to have some fun and meet him at the mcwane science center downtown. i can't stand being stuck inside the house with three kids who really need to burn off some energy so it was a win-win for everyone. it feels like we haven't been in forever and it was the first time that jemma really got to enjoy a lot of the exhibits since she is an exploring toddler on the move. i really enjoyed watching her play, especially with the balls in the water. lastly, if you have kids and are always looking for fun stuff for them to do, i highly recommend purchasing a membership there...it is definitely worth it. here are some pics...

twilight: breaking dawn 2

thanks to birminghmmommy.com, i headed out for a fun girls night in honor of the final twilight series: breaking dawn 2. we ordered tickets through their website and arrived early at the movie theater where we enjoyed swag bags full of goodies draping over our seats as we were served doughnuts, coffee, and ice cream with toppings. door prizes were raffled away and much thanks to selena for winning the "team renesmee" bib and giving it to me for baby jemma. she wears it proudly. last, but certainly not least...the movie was AWESOME!!! seriously. i enjoyed the twist at the end that varied from the book which says a lot because i usually get disappointed when endings change. in my opinion, it was brilliant and made up for the usual slow and cheesy moments in the beginning. bravo, bravo, bravo!!
