happy 2nd birthday, jemma!!

today we celebrated our sweet jem jem's second birthday with dinner at the olive garden. it was her and big sister's choice and one i was very excited about..."i want olive garden!!" (inside joke). anywho, it's hard to believe that she is already two and we feel so incredibly blessed to have her add so much joy and fun to our family. by the end of our meal, we all sang happy birthday and watched her blow out the candles on top of her ice cream scoop. if you ask her how old she is, she replies back by counting, "one...two" and shows you with her fingers. it's the sweetest thing ever. here are some pics while at dinner...
i'd like to take this time to describe what you are like at this fun, yet exhausting age, sweet girl. you love to put things in the trash or in drawers and cabinets within your reach. i have found my keys in the trash, your sippy cup with the pots and pans, and a tennis ball in the bottom of the refrigerator. for the most part, i think this is adorable. what mommy doesn't like is when you put socks and barbie dolls in the toilet and then proceed to try and flush them down. daddy almost lost an undershirt the other day, thanks to you. we realize you are learning boundaries and what you are and are not allowed to do.

on the flip side, you have wonderful manners and always tell us "tank ew" after giving you something and "peeeeas" when asking. you love to dance, especially in your car seat when i good upbeat song comes on the radio. it's the cutest thing and i have many videos of this that i love to watch from time to time. you love to pretend you are reading a book to us each and every night as we all sit in a circle on big sister's bed and each pick out a book. you always seem to pick chicka chicka boom boom and say "uh oh" at the part where all the letters fall off the coconut tree.

you are a smart girl. you know that by telling us, "i poo-pooed and tee-teed" over the video monitor late at night that we will come pick you up out of bed to change you only to realize that it was a stall tactic for extra hugs and attention. well played, jem-jem, well played. you love putting shoes on even when we have no where to go, but as soon as we get in the car, they immediately come off.

you hug me so tight when you wrap your little arms around my neck that it makes me melt. i am putty in your hands and after a long day of cleaning up your spilt applesauce, telling you "no, no, no!!" and fishing objects out of the toilet, your neck hugs make everything in this world right again. we love you more than you will ever know, sweet girl. happy happy 2nd birthday, jemma!! xoxo
